I still think it should be "every christmas is the/our last christmas" rather than "every christmas is last christmas".
Stupid I know but in that moment it genuinely all mattered, and it showed how different the show can be viewed when it isn't spoiled, plus just how invested in Doctor Who I am. It may not be universal but I will never forget that feeling of emotional exhaustion. That moment where Santa appears one last time was fist pumpingly, cheeringly awesome and accompanied with much out loud yelling of "Please! Please let her be staying". (Honorable mention goes to "Really" "Really" "Really" ".dead." (Again, assisted by the same music)). To cut a long story short, completely in tears on Christmas day sat alone in my living room waiting to see if Clara was going or not.
"But it never would have worked out, he was impossible". Him never seeing her as anything but her young self.
The Christmas Cracker callback to Time Of The Doctor. In particular the music of that scene "Every Christmas is last christmas" utterly shredded my heart. Not knowing really kept the tension up towards the end, and as someone who considers Clara to be their favourite companion it was genuinely upsetting when The Doctor showed up at the end of her life and all hope seemed lost. It was this episode where nobody really knew whether Clara/Jenna would be sticking with the show, or if this would be her departure. I adore this episode, and it's almost entirely because it was in no way spoiled for me. Check the wiki for more details about these options.
